Welcome

Twenty years ago this was a neglected Welsh barn. Today it is a place where people come together to celebrate, create and connect. Every stone has its own story, told by drovers from the west coast of Wales on their way to London and resting briefly after crossing the Cambrian Mountains, by soft eyed upland cows being milked in the early misty morning

Now the stones and meadows have new stories to tell, of happy couples celebrating their union with friends and families, of seekers of truth and peace who bring their unique energies through sound, yoga, mindfulness and dance. Let’s not forget the amazing moving live music sometimes bouncing off the walls in gay abandon!.

We know because we restored it ourselves, carefully conserving, re-imagining and resurrecting a unique sustainable community and event venue. This beautiful marriage between old and new creates a bright and airy space, encased in mellow old stone walls reflecting the sound of running water from Nant y Walch the stream after which the barn is named, and which gives us electricity and warmth powered by the Cambrian Mountains. Cupped in nature, the barn has expansive views down the stunning Irfon Valley, with its wild hills and soaring red kites and buzzards.

About.

Located in the Irfon Valley three miles from Llanwrtyd Wells in Mid Wales, Nant y Walch Barn is a 16th Century former agricultural stone barn. After falling into disrepair during the 20th Century it was bought by its current owners in 2014. Since then it has been carefully resurrected into a welcoming, sustainable and vibrant venue, fit to serve the community for another 500 years. Find out more about the barn, its ethos and history.

What people are saying

“Nant y Walch barn has become an incredibly special place to us, somewhere we will continue to visit whenever we can.

In the year leading up to the wedding we took every opportunity we could to visit, and Gyles & Karin always made us feel so welcome. Our family too.

The setting is beautiful, the barn perfectly converted and those working at the venue clearly have a passion for the space.

We loved crafting our wedding weekend and are grateful to Gyles & Karin for all their support to make it truly unique to us.

Thank you both. Diolch!”

“We held a family birthday party at Nant y Walch. We brought our own pizza oven, set up a projector to create a cinema for the kids, and had such a lovely time. We would highly recommend.”

“What a beautiful place. The views are amazing and the barn has been so lovingly and cleverly restored, with so many of the barn’s original features maintained inside. It’s very peaceful as well and you can hear the stream babbling away just outside.”
